While obtaining my Bachelors degree in Psychology & Early Childhood Education at Bay Path College, I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of young children. My student teaching experiences, internships at multiple centers and mentoring under the Director at the Bay Path College Preschool opened my eyes to the important job of an early childhood administrator. It was an honor to accept the position of Director of a growing program eight years ago.
Directing a Child Care/Preschool has given me many wonderful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children, parents and staff. I have found joy in taking part in community committees and local government initiatives, State of Connecticut advocacy groups, as well as serving an educational consultant for other programs. Serving in partnership with Manchester Community College students has also proven to be a wonderful experience. Successfully completing the process of accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has taught me how to manage a quality program and has also given me the opportunity to offer advice to fellow programs and assistance through Connecticut’s Accreditation Facilitation Project (AFP). One of the most empowering experiences while working in the Early Childhood field has been taking the ConnLEAP course.
That class, combined with my “front-line” early childhood work has given me the courage, imagination, strength, knowledge and drive to continue to improve the industry of Early Childhood Education in a whole new way! Together, Laura and I are excited to offer new and exciting support to our fellow teachers within this critically important field.
